Sexual harassment can occur in many different ways, including but not limited to the following:

  • The victim as well as the harasser may be a woman or a man. The victim does not have to be of the opposite sex.
  • The harasser can be the victim's supervisor, an agent of the employer, a supervisor in another area, a co-worker, or a non-employee.
  • The victim does not have to be the person harassed but could be anyone affected by the offensive conduct.
  • Unlawful sexual harassment may occur without economic injury to or discharge of the victim.
  • The harasser's conduct must be unwelcome.

According the EEOC, approximately 15,000 sexual harassment cases are filed every year in the United States. While the majority of these cases are filed by women, over the years the number of men claiming they were sexually harassed while at work has grown. In 2004, 11 percent of EEOC complaints were filled by men who claimed that they were sexually harassed by their female supervisor, which proves that anyone can become a victim of sexual harassment, regardless of his or her gender. If you are a victim of sexual harassment, do not hesitate to contact an attorney at the law office of Brody, Obeidy & Marcellus P. A. to get help.
