Miami, Florida- The rapper publicly known as Pitbull, real name Armando C. Perez, was booked early Friday morning into the Miami-Dade County jail for driving under the influence.  The arrest is reported to have occurred at 3:14 a.m., and Perez was officially booked into the jail at 6:51 a.m. this morning.

The twenty-six year old rapper is best known for his work in the rap style known as “Reggaeton”, but has also been featured and collaborated with a slew of other mainstream rappers.  The most notable of these artists is rapper Lil’ Jon, who in 2002 featured the relatively unknown Pitbull on his highly anticipated 2002 release Kings of Crunk.  From this break, Pitbull went on to release four albums, multiple collaborations, and several mixtape appearances.  His latest album release is the Spanish language release entitled The Boatlift.

Pitbull has yet to post the $1,000 bond for his release, and other details surrounding the arrest have not been made available at this time.

Drunk driving is a crime. More importantly, it is not a victimless crime. Nearly 17,000 Americans are killed and more than 700,000 are injured each year in alcohol related traffic crashes .
